What to expect
Prior to the first session you will be sent an Intake questionnaire and the Informed Consent Form to be completed and signed. During the first 1-3 sessions, we will discuss the key concern(s) that you are facing, as well as gain a broader understanding of your history that may be relevant to your current situation. I take the role of Therapist, Coach, Educator and Cheerleader. I believe that you are the expert on the subject of you. I am here to accompany you on your journey of exploration. Together we set goals for therapy, assessing where you are starting from and where you would like to be.
I tailor my therapeutic approach to the unique experience of each client. Openness, curiosity, playfulness and humour are important tenets of my approach to therapy. I incorporate skills and techniques from the Couple Developmental Model, Emotionally Focussed Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, as well as Systemic and Psychodynamic approaches. My work is both trauma-informed and spiritually-informed. Whether spirituality is a source of discouragement from which you would like to heal or a source of strength you would like to grow and deepen, your spiritual questions are welcome.
Sessions for individuals are typically 50 minutes in length, with the exception of the first intake session which is 75 minutes in length. For couples, sessions are typically 75 minutes in length, with the first intake session being 90 minutes in length.
I provide a compassionate and respectful presence, a safe space where you can explore more about yourself, your relationships and your story.
